Wow I too just found this.  Cancer sucks and it needs to go away from our world.  You can beat it.  I have had family, friends and co-workers impacted in the last  year or so - not sure what is going on in this world.  it aint easy and it can be the worst, but all have come through.  despite the struggle they are stonger persons on the other side.

You will too.

too damn hard to type.

Godspeed...

Surgery Cancelled for a while.

Not sure what happened exactly, but we took a call this morning 30 minutes before we left for surgery. Hospital surgery team advising me that the surgery was cancelled, for me to contact my surgeons office when they open.

I called, they had no idea yet what had occurred.

After many other calls, it appears my surgeon either had a medical emergency himself, or his loved one. Prayers either way.

Nobody to blame.

They are giving me an emergency referral to across town, different surgeon. I bet this adds over a month to getting my surgery...

So, you guys are stuck with me for a bit longer.....  :chuckle:

At least you get to eat well for a while longer!

Wow - iceman !

Keep up the fight, we lost a friend not too long ago, because this same type of thing went undiagnosed.  I am glad that you were able to catch it earlier.  It sounds like you are going through all the right steps..  burn the censored out of it with radiation & chemo, so that it is all dead.

prayers to you and your family.  Made my small loss today seem trivial in comparison.

Hey Ice, keep fighting!  This is a tough one but you can beat it!

Also, Yes, I do have cancer in my life.  My wife was diagnosed with Stage IIIc Ovarian cancer in Sept. 2011 (only 48 years old).  Went thru debulking surgery and six months of chemo from Oct to March 2012.  Everything seemed to be going well until March of this year.  Cancer was back worse than before (i.e., Stage IV).  Surgery is not an option as it's too diffuse throughout abdomen, so they restarted chemo again in late March to arrest the progression.  She just had her 4th cycle of six cycles of chemo treatment.  CA-125 number have dropped again to normal levels.  But, recurrent stage IV Ovarian cancer has about a 5% survival rate after five years.  Dr.'s prognosis is only one to three years at most.  So, after the six regular cycles of chemo, they plan to do monthly maintenance chemo treatment until progression is noted again.

The reason I mention my situation is that Ovarian cancer is the third most deadly cancer in the world for women!  It's insidiuos in that most of the symptoms are similar to monthly female cycle issues, change of life issues as women age, etc. (abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal bleeding, pain during sex, etc.), so it usually isn't diagnosed until it's in the advanced stages (i.e., Stage III or IV).  If it's caught by Stage II, survival periods and chance of full remission are much higher (40 to 50%).  Even if your wife's family has no history of cancer (which my wife's doesn't), do not ignore these persistent symptoms.  A simple CA-125 blood test or an abdominal scan much earlier could have saved my wife's life!  Also, for women who have never had children (like my wife), the rate of occurence is 50% greater than those who have had at least one child.

Like anything else in life, be your own best advocate.  If you aren't getting relief or satisfaction from the medical diagnosis and treatment you are currently receiving, tell the Dr. to do CA-125 blood test or arrange for an abdominal scan to rule out Ovarian cancer!  Get the lady's in your life tested.

Take care, and keep fighting Ice!
