At home, finally.   (Actually yesterday at 1pm..)

Not sure the technical term, but I will say it: Cancer Free.

I came home yesterday afternoon. Very sore. Half of the robotic surgery they intended to use, did not work and they basically filleted me open to be able to deflate my lung and to get at and remove my diseased esophagus. They recreated an esophagus for me out of my stomach and pulled the whole magilla up to the top remaining portion of my esophagus.

Ten days later after my July 1st surgery, I left the hospital early, and am at home.

During most of my stay, I had 11 tubes into my body and 7 full time sensor lines.

Two tubes into my nose, one for oxygen, one down the esophagus for new esophagus alignment and stomach drainage.

Two chest side drains below surgery sites...

One below the lung drain.

One incoming narcotic pain med line.

A central line (PIC line) going to the heart.

An existing power port line access, also going to the heart.

Occasional IV line as my PIC line and Port both seem to like to grow over after a days use... ( they call me a "fast healer" )

Bladder catheter.

Feeding tube installed into my stomach.

Five wires to the chest for heart telemetry.

Full time blood exygen sensor line.

Full time blood pressure cuff.

I am now home with  only a stomache feeding tube, and a port line at my shoulder... much better.

I have to feed myself through a food pump right now almost 24hrs/7dys..... I have been just authorized to swallow up to 8 clear fluid ounces every hour.

After much more healing, I will slowly slide into more actual food down the gullet and less costly recovery formula pumped straight in....

EDIT:      Thank you all for your support and prayers!

Those catheters are L O N G , aren't they? 20 min. after it's removed you feel 70% better. Know what you went thru, buddy. My thoughts are with you. You'll improve rapidly now that your home and the feeding tube is removed.

Welcome Home....

I am so glad you can print those words  CANCER FREE.....

By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

That is all good news all around. Hang in there. Only a few months to deer season. You'll be there!
