Iceman you can lick it. I licked throat cancer couple years now. Still can't eat worth crap. Hang in the Buddy. CANCER SUCKS

Going back to see fishseekers posts, this one really affected me today. So sad to hear of his loss. So scary for many of us on here who are still, and will always have to deal with or fear cancer. Loved Johns spirit.

Rest in peace brother.

Ice you hanging in there?  hope you are making improvements.  I know my son while still cancer free is never really cured he is 17 and has a lifetime of cancer screening every lump or bump has to be taken much more seriously, he is now at higher risk for other cancers because of the treatments to "cure" his cancer.  I hate cancer its a horrible awful thing to have to deal with.

All that said I think of you a lot and hope you are doing well, I look forward to seeing more pics of you and your kids out there hunting grouse, or snow camping, or any of the pursuits you seemed to have such a great time with your kids doing....oh and the stump pictures I loved those.....

fishseeker will be missed  :'(

Not to get too philosophical here, but….

A few years back a buddy of mine was diagnosed with ALS.  By the time they diagnosed him he had to use a walker to walk.  Within a few more months he was in a wheel chair.  A few months after that he was bed bound.  A few months after that he passed.  About 14 months after he and I did a scuba dive together, he was gone.

By the time he was diagnosed, it was too late for him to do most of the things he may have had on a bucket list.

This really got to me.  I now make it a point to not hesitate or leave things undone.  Who knows what the next year (or next week) may bring and that opportunity may be lost for the future.

Rest assure Fishseeker was a strong individual who faced many challenges in life.  I found his always being positive about what ever was thrown their way made him a much better person.

Ice I'm sure this can be said about you as well from those in the know.  Stay positive and I pray for all the best for you.

Hey Ice,

It's only cause your fighting the battle my dad fought.

How ever I'm an old fart. I think I'm older than you. Not to sure. I'm 56. And I feel to damn young to be in this old body. I'm all crippled up, yet I have no fear of playing short stop and diving for a play. But yeah, I know that is just not going to happen ever again.

Some times my love and hankering to play with my chainsaw and ax and build a campfire to keep every body warm and cozy at night really nags at me. It ain't ever going to happen again.

I've been an absolute independent man. Taking care of those I love with all my passions and desires. I am dad and I am grandpa. I take care of those I love.

My body is all kinds of screwed up now. Differently than yours. But the truth is we are old now. I deal with my particular issues that cripple me up now for the rest of my life as you do. Just different old age problems.

And how do I deal with this?

I would really love to share and never spare a word. But my ability to write is kind of like Nill. Zilch. I didn't need to be such a linguistic and literary person to make a living when I was young. But those days are long gone.

Huaaa. I've been close to curtains 2 times now in the last five years. And I am very glad to be alive today. I just had a new granddaughter born last month.

I don't know what your life has been like and how old your kids are now.

But as I feel that cold wind blow, I become so much more thankful for my every breath. Something I couldn't do when I was young and strong and felt invincible.

I know how to tell my kids how wonderful and special they are. Better than when I was a young strong dad. My years feel so shortened now. But that doesn't bother me because I know my every breath is to live for my kids and their well being that was just a dream and adventure when I was in my 20's.

I could share more. But I am not a preacher. And I don't know where you are with that stuff.

You are not alone buddy. I think we all face this stuff. And there are so many challenges as many as there are individuals. I have peace. I hope you do too.

Here is a song I really liked when I was young. And now here I am old enough to see my kids grown up. Life has been good and I am thankful for my every day I have now. I shouldn't be here today. But I am.

Need to post.

It has been three months since I last posted here. Since then, I have had a scare in December. At years end, I had my 6 month CT scan to see how I was doing post treatment and surgery. As you can imagine, this is a stressfull CT scan, since it basically tells you how treatment worked, or not...

My December 30th scan revealed lymphnodes that were enlarged around my lungs. This concerns the professionals because it may indicate cancer returning..... but...I had been coughing alot in December, like a bad cold... Since the CT scan had warning signs, they put me on an antibiotic for a few weeks to assure if it was a cold, it went away....then they would wait and re-CT scan me...

I just had this wait and see CT scan on this Tuesday eve.

Wednesday my doctor called with good news. She relayed that my all the lymphs that had shown signs of enlargement were now all smaller a month later. She is convinced that the reason the lymphs were larger in December was because my body was naturally fighting off a cold. Now, with no cold, my lymphs are smaller than they were last year before treatment, and that they were reducing even post the dramatic surgery I had in July. We were overjoyed.

The point is, that there does not appear to be any cancer returning for now to my body. CT scan did not reveal anything. This is great news for me. I feel like I will be here for my wife and kids for a long while. How long, not sure, but a good bit. What a relief for now.

Next CT scan in 6 months.... Looking to get out and do some hunting before then.... :chuckle:
