There is a fairly good population of whitetails in that area and some real nice ones come out every year.  One thing I would do is buy a Potlach permit for their land and buy a potlach map of the area which shows there land, state of Idaho and Forest Service.  You can buy them at http://recreation.potlatchcorp.com/
"Shoot the spike".  It's much easier to pack out!

Definitely get a Potlach permit. That is a pretty wolfy area that has been hit hard by them and some bad winters. Deer numbers are WAY down in that area. There are still some nice bucks but don't expect to see many animals.

:yeah:  My folks own land near Pierce and I deer hunt there occasionally...I have noticed a big decline in deer numbers since around '08.  Not sure what the cause is...wolves, winters, disease, ??? a bunch of things??  There are deer there just have to work a little harder for them.
