Potential new WR? (Cedar River Taxidermy)
« on: June 13, 2013, 07:37:52 AM »
Remounted this buck for a gentleman over here on the wet side.(wasn't taken by him) Deer is said to be Blacktail? We saved some pieces of the skull for DNA, if he chooses to have it officially scored. Either way it's one heck of a buck. I scored it in the mid 230s. Enjoy!
We give your trophy that final compliment!

That looks like the buck I passed on a few years ago.  Had him at 20 yards broadside but, one of his G2's wasn't to my liking so, I let him walk.  :chuckle:

Surely there's more info out there on this buck......blacktail, benchleg, or muley, still a giant.  Just goes to show width doesn't mean much.

Whopper!  :yike:

More reason I don't put much stock into record books. . . There are tons out there in peoples' garages and shops that haven't been officially scored that would completely rewrite the books if they were all entered.  Looks to be BT, but not like any that I've ever seen!

 Thanks everyone.
I wish I new more about him, but I don't. Was said to have been killed on this side of the mountains here in Washington. It's pretty old, I think it may have been shot in the late 70s, but I have know definite knowledge of where or when.
Bone I did not weigh it, wish I did.
If the owner pursues having it officially scored by Boone and Crockett I will definitely let you guys know what we find out. My score may be off some due to the webbing on the points and determining the typical frame points but I would think that would only be 3-4 inches. Main frame scored 179 and some change and had 62 3/4 inches of extra antler and 47 inches circumference measurements. Really hope we find out more in the future.
We give your trophy that final compliment!

That sort of rack would take a panel to get right.   Just plain incredible.   Nice mount on it too by the way.  I was so taken back by the antlers.....   Nice mount to have in the home.

It takes awhile to get past those horns, but all of that mount looks very nice, now back to those horns . . . WOW, I can't even dream of horns that impressive.
