"Motorcyclist takes photos of wolf chasing him on highway"

A Banff, Alta., man came within metres of being caught by a wolf, but luckily he was on his motorcycle during the close call on a highway, where he also snapped photos of the chase.

Tim Bartlett was testing out his new bike on Highway 93 from Lake Louise to Radium on Saturday when the wolf crossed a lane of traffic while attempting to catch up to him.

"It sort of sped up initially; it gave a real good burst of speed," said Bartlett. "And then after that it just trotted along beside me, but it probably got within three or four metres."

Bartlett was able to take some pictures before heading roughly 100 metres down the highway and coming to a stop.

When he looked back, the wolf had stopped in the middle of the road before heading back into the nearby forest.

Bartlett said he wasn't trying to provoke the animal, but was happy with the outcome.

"I got six really good shots and ... the one that came in nice and close, he had his ears pinned right back and he was in full gallop," he said.

"It looked really cool."

Parks Canada has said in the past that the area is known to attract wolves because people feed them.

Officials had to issue a wildlife alert last year when pictures of a wolf being fed rice cakes surfaced.

Which side are you on if neither will claim you?

Too bad an 18-wheeler didn't come along as the wolf was standing in the road. :twocents:
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Dogs chasing bikes...nothing new.

The motorcycle must've been sick or wounded.

Good thing this didn't happen in Washington. Some leaf licking tree humper would probably have him arrested for harassing the cute little wolf.
