When will ammo prices and availability return to "normal"
« on: June 14, 2013, 09:37:44 PM »
When will I be able to buy a 50rd box of 9mm again for $10 bucks?

How about a brick of 22lr, 525rds for $10 bucks? $15?

Ever?

Never again.  Welcome to the new normal.  Wait until new ammo taxes go into effect.

As soon as the tinfoil hat crowd runs out of money and stops hoarding.  Maybe by Fall.

I have noticed that there has been a couple dollar increase across the board per ammo pack & shooting supplies/components. I suspect that will remain in effect.

However, I have also noticed pre-panic prices on firearm accessories...just picked up some Troy battlemags for $10.95 this week so there is still hope.

Ammo is going to be the last to return because the general firearms population is still worried about availability and snatching up what they can when they see it, not that I blame them for doing it.

I'm just going to "hold/squat" & wait out the madness until some semblance of normalcy returns...although I sure would like to get my hands on some small rifle primers & some Varget or Tac  :'(

everything i shoot seems to be "fairly" easy to come by, with the exception of 22LR.  the fact that it's nearly impossible to get just blows my mind.

i almost feel that stores need to jack up the price a bit to make it less attractive for the gougers.  i stocked up a bit(not by most people's standards, but my one and only .22 is a bolt action) after the '08 panic subsided so i have enough to go plinking if i want to.  i heard one of the employees at cabelas saying that when they get a shipment of .22 ammo in, it's a good way to measure how many people come in the store(because every one will leave with a box of it until it runs out).

i really doubt we'll ever see a return to the $10, or even $15 bricks of ammo, but i feel that's more due to inflation and material cost than anything else.  when's the last time you bought a box of 12 gauge target loads for $3.99?
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

I am in the industry, and no, not a " tin foil hat " wearer. But it's way more than simple hoarding. Way more...

Considering that the CA legislature just passed a bill that will require a $50 background check fee on all ammo purchases, I would say hoarding will again jump and supplies will be zero.
