I think it is a farriers hammer or a cobblers hammer. Either way it is for a foot or a hoof

I actually think it is an older Magnetic Tack Hammer. Its used mainly for leather saddle making and a lot of upholsterers use them as well. One way to confirm is to see is it is still magnetized.

nope... I am going to clean it yp on the wire wheel and look to see if it has any stamping or markings.
