now he wants less tags and have them spread out.   a friend of mine had a cow tag and did not get on, he ate his tag.    mike w

Id beleive that..I saw 3 cows and 70+ bulls the whole time scouting and hunting. The local joke is the elk were gay :chuckle:

Already heard he turned a guy down this year that didn't ask before putting in for the drawing. Been some poaching going on out there. Hope you don't get shot down other wise there really isn't much in the unit left to hunt.

There are two areas with consistent elk the tree farm and the other place you Don't get on unless you know the owners.

I think the manager quit letting so many people hunt in there because with poaching and too many big bull hunters there realty hasn't been a lot of quality bulls in there. He doesn't let people cow hunt much because they don't rub the trees. Yeah every year some one kills a nice bull but with like 20 big bull permits in a small area. People would end up shooting rag horns. Which is pretty much all Id see in there back when I coyote hunted it. The manager is a good guy and I believe it says secure land before putting in for the unit.

In 2007 that place was insane! I saw 40 bulls one night scouting it in sept..almost every bull was atleast a 6x6 several 7x7's and 6x7's..I dont every remember seeing a small rag bull. I saw 1 spike hunting

One of my hunting buddies drew the bull modern tag last year and said the place was like Jurassic park, animals everywhere. Permission was easy to get, he hunted a couple hours and shot a 6x6. This year another in my hunting party drew quality archery in there so hoping for his sake permission is still as easy to get.

Couple of my buddies drew the late Dec. rifle hunt last year said it was a killer hunt and the guy is super cool access is not a problem.  Not so in my case I drew the tag for early archery this year (2013)and Allen won't even return my messages.  Man I sure hope I don't have to burn this tag!
