49 Degrees North Maps
« on: August 01, 2013, 10:41:04 AM »
Well I am pretty sure my eyes are about to fall out of my head. I have looked over more mapping information than I care to talk about. I was wondering what paper maps seem to be the best for the unit? I have looked at the national forest map and it seems fairly detailed. It just doesnt show a whole lot of the south end of the unit.
Thanks in advance. I can't wait to put all the planning and scouting to good use!

I don't know that it's the best, but I'd want to have one of the DNR Public Land maps for that area. You can buy them in Tumwater at the Department of Printing, or they can be ordered online. I think they're $8 each.

Thanks for the reply. I will definately look into those options. I have a couple LcSportmaps and the detail seems a little weak in some areas but they do work.

If you have a Garmin GPS I recommend getting the Hunting GPS chip or download for Washington.

If you don't have a GPS I recommend that you get one. No paper map will tell you you exactly where you are.

I didn't take a look at the links posted, but I picked up two I think that cover it, state maps at the DNR office in Colville.   They call them Quads as well...many people refer to Quads as the USGS maps which are different.
