I love hunting this unit, very nice tag you have. My advice is to stay below the snow lines. Coopers Ridge and the adjoining ridges are nice. Spend time scouring it and you will find them. Look for the watering troughs and glass. Smoothing Iron ranch is a very good area. Good luck!

I drew one of the Lick Creek archery tags. I'm surprised buy the poor harvest stats for the unit compared to its neighbors. But I put in for it anyways, because I know their there. Scout Scout Scout.

One time I was driving high in the area archery hunting deer, we pulled over to have lunch and I just so happened to have my bugle in the truck. I let one rip right from the road and had 2 bulls answer back. My brother and I hurried down the hill to see how close we could get them, after about 10 min of talking back and forth between one of the bulls a 340" bull decided to start tearing up a tree about 50 yards in front of us... What a sight to see!!! I know this doesn't help you, but I doubt you will have a hard time filling this tag

I would concentrate on Cougar and Hardy ridges.

My dad has a rifle cow tag for that unit.

I didn't draw it so I will be in there archery for cows and spikes.  We hunt hardie and devils.  No bulls in there :sry: :chuckle:.  U can message me after archery and I can tell you what we saw.  That season is a dandy.  They are still going to be rutting pretty good.  I would say he will have no problem filling the tag.

First off, congrats on an awesome tag!  I am very jealous!  Second, for success in that country you better start running bleachers now!  The main reason bulls get big in that unit because there is a lot of country that people just aren't willing to go.

That's funny you would ask why he would put in for that hunt.  He lives down town Seattle and has never elk or deer hunted a day in his life he just got his hunting license last year.  This is the 1st YEAR HE HAS EVER PUT IN FOR A SPECIAL PERMIT.  We put numbers in a hat and drew a number and unit 175 was the one that was pulled so that's what he put in for :chuckle:

You want some advice here you go. Don't say I never did anything for you. Since you live in down town Seattle. you have a great place to work out. Go down to rei and buy the most expensive frame pack you can find. Load it up with around 200 pounds. Go up and down capital hill all day long. Good luck.
