So here is what the new parts look like. They took the stitches out friday and now have a splint and started Physical therapy. No pushing or pulling with that arm for at least 4 more weeks. Got a Inland paper permit for $65 and am hoping to make it over next weekend to do a little scouting. Just depends on how everything goes. Tried to shot the 338 today off the bench and decided it would be better to do more practice with the 10/22. But on a side note did shoot the Thompson Encore in 308 and was dead on at 100yds.
they have a large portion (almost half)closed right now due to active logging.
logging is finished and gates are open. Good luck

Got my splint/cast off today and then be careful for 4 weeks with no sudden impacts on it and I will be good to go. Dad is heading over next week for three days to check it out and then I am over two weekends from now. Gun is dialed and shooting lights out, maps and permits and everything purchased. Dad,two brothers and myself are headed over for ten days the first week of Oct

So I get home from work Friday night with plans of fishing Westport on Saturday and my dad calls and says "hey lets go look over your moose area tomorrow and Sunday". Okay so we leave Chehalis at 3am after fueling the truck and beat feet over. Got into Spokane right around 8:30 and meet up with my step mothers brother who lives over there and knows exactly where to go.  :chuckle: Up the road we go to head out and after a couple of hours of driving come to find out he doesn't even know where this area is at  :bash:. So we figure the best bet is to drive the border and figure it out. So we take off and drive the boarder (BTW if you have a 3/4 ton crew cab Duramax diesel then Blanchard creek road is probably not the best idea  :yike:).  Saturday night stayed at a motel in Post Falls and bought maps at Cabelas and the Map I bought from Dale and developed a plan. Get up early on sunday and head up again and find a bunch of areas to hunt and how to access them. Headed home around 2 or so. Seen 50+ turkeys, a coyote, a grouse and 30 plus white tails with one very nice buck but no moose granted it was very foggy. Now I am busy until the 28th but  then I am there for at least the first 10 days.  :IBCOOL:

Good morning. I have been watching this forum for awhile now and realized I should join. My son, 16, was one of the lucky to draw the Mt. Spokane North Moose OIL tag. I know.... crazy... only 4 points.

He is a bow hunter like his dad, so our plan is to try our luck with that, unless of course, the big one is just out of bow range. Then out comes the rifle.

Planning on making several trips if necessary and filming along the way.

Pretty darn excited--but also pretty unsure of access points. I may make a trip this Sunday to do some scouting and buy an Inland Paper Co. permit.

Can't wait!

We know that patience will be paramount. Ideally we will try our luck at calling in a few and size them up. Mid-40's will be the goal.

patience may not make any difference bulls call for the first week and there is a lot of diff. on mid 40s bulls 120-165" boone and crockett can all be 45"

My son and I are headed up to scout on Sunday. Should be there by mid-morning--coming from Yakima area. My plan is to swing into White's at 9am when they first open to buy an IP permit and then head north to scout all day and into the evening.

Ben: Happy to have assistance or information, but I don't want to intrude inappropriately. I'll PM you with my contact information and vice versa.

Does anyone know if the Inland Paper gate just south of Mt. Spokane is the only open entry point? If you purchase the permit, can you access the IP land just north and south off of Blanchard Rd.? Doesn't look like you can enter the south gate by Mt. Spokane and get into the North (Mt. Spokane A) unit...

Blanchard creek is your south border and is barely passable ( jeeper trail) I don't think there is a south gate to your unit. There are no paper gates that are closed in your unit they close them at the end if November depending on weather and road condition.

You have to have a bad ass Chevy to get in the east side of Blanchard creek. Think a lil further north!
