Who drew m/l Whittier or Margaret bull tags?
« on: June 20, 2013, 01:24:37 PM »
So, I have 16 points and couldn't pull either a Whittier or Margaret bull tag.  I have put in for these two units exclusively for the last five years.  Prior to that I applied for the Margaret and Toutle (until it went to crap).  What does it take to draw?!!  Last year's average to draw Margaret was only eight points.  And, in fact only a dozen or so hunters had more points than I.   21 tags are available, and only one for the Whittier.  Tell me WDFW when can I expect to draw?  What weight do my 32,768 tickets in the barrel really carry?  Very frustrating...Anyway, anyone needing information on any of these two hunts can PM me.  I grew up in the area and still live here, and my son drew the Whittier bull tag two years ago (ironically with only six points!).

PS my other son drew the youth Mudflow any bull tag - our only special permit this year

Hye Rosies, we talked to you last year.  Had one of the cow tags for Rifle Whittier.  I put in agian too with 10 points, for Margaret and Whittier, no luck, going back to smokepole next year.  I need a reason to sell the CVA and buy a Knight Disk Extreme anyway! haha

oh yeah, Todd.  Hopefully we can get this guy set up with a great hunt.  Any time you can get a disc extreme, JUMP AT IT!!!  Just bought the nutmeg thumbhole, and I love it.

My buddy was drawn for the Margaret Bull permit with max points.

Even that is no guarantee.  I checked the stats about a week ago, and I believe two hunters had max points last year, and only one drew.  Must have been your buddy on the short end last year.

You guys are great and just from the replies you have sent me has already taught me a lot about the unit and i feel we are going to have a good first scouting trip up there. I am curious if anyone else drew any of the whittier tags on hear.

I bought the solid green thumbhole stock (a mountaineer stock, but it fits disk extreme) and like it.  It's noticeably lighter than the standard camo stock that it came with.  I already have as much in accessories for the rifle as it cost. :yike:

Sucks, doesn't it?!!  There's been plenty of debate on this forum about the draw process; I just think 16 years of waiting to draw a good, NOT great tag is plain ridiculous.

Yep...I went for the archery tag last year with 15 points and struck out. I didn't really expect to draw the Whittier tag but figured I had a pretty good shot at the Margaret.  :dunno:
