247 Unit Entiat Bucks, post em up
« on: June 20, 2013, 04:56:07 PM »
Just got drawn for the Modern Firearm Entiat hunt. 25 permits, 4000 applicants, and ten years worth of preference points later. I finally get to put that wall-hanger mule deer next to my Pend Oreille whitetail. I want to see what kind of buck I can look forward to killing this year November 1st through 20th, 2013. It would be great to see only pics taken during this Super High Quality Hunt. I can't even believe I got drawn for this.

Here is a pic of my 2008 whitetail buck from ne washington. To give you an idea about just how big that body was, my buddy is 6'4", 275lb. That buck was humongous.

To take an Entiat buck like the one shown, you will need to work hard, keep your finger off the trigger and even get a little lucky.  You will see so many great bucks but you might want to hold out for the greatest of the great.
If you only have a few days to hunt, go home happy with a 150 + rack.  If you have the time and energy to really look, the big one is out there.

I think that buck went right around 190 if I remember correctly. Love that buck.

Cool, do you know the guy? My buddy is supposed to be talking to him at this moment to find out more. I may have to pay a guide. This is truly a once in a lifetime hunt. I plan on hunting as long as it takes. I will only shoot something that I would be proud to get mounted.

Thanks. Have you drawn for this in the past? I'm really looking forward to killing a nice buck.

No but a guy I hunt out of state with drew it about 6 years ago. It was slow til the snow level came way down and then it got good. He took a 27" 4x3 that I would say goes about between 160-170. Also have a couple friends that used to hunt the late archery before they made it draw and they used to see tons of big bucks but a bit tougher to be successful with a bow in your hand. I hope I get a shot someday and I will try again next year with my 12 pts.

Nice, I've only killed two mule deer in my life, one doe and one 5 point. I have the 5 point mounted, but it's nothing special.

Thanks, I keep thinking the same thing about my moose permit. I live and hunt in northeast washington. I have some of the biggest bull moose around just waiting for me to get drawn. Unfortunately, I was 30 when I started putting in, now I'm 43. Those big bulls are starting to look a lot less attractive than the ones that are beside the logging road we're on. LOL

Now that's what I'm talkin' about. What was the gross and net score on that bad boy? Also, how long did you hunt before you put him down? Thanks for posting BTW.
