West side bow hunting partner
« on: March 10, 2013, 09:27:46 AM »
Looking for a ethical and reliable bow hunting partner for some scouting trips, high country buck hunts, and cycle in elk hunt. Must enjoy hunting as much as killing.  I have backpacking gear and the month of September off work.  I prefer the "road less traveled".  Hunting experience not critical, but you must have basic backcountry skills and be mentally tough.  Also, any suggestions or advice on hunting the buckhorn wilderness would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking to expand my hunting partner pool of ethical fair chase hunters - especially archery elk. I am doing a high mountain in the skokomish wilderness this year. I also do a lot of hunting behind closed gates and even bike into a lot of places. I have not hunted the buckhorn wilderness but would be interested in the future.

I hunt archery elk on the west side, bike in for most hunts, I consider myself very ethical. I own a small business and have a young family so long hunts in the back country are out, but, dusk to dawn hard hunting all day and some over nighters are what I'm in  for. I too am looking for hunting partners that don't go out to party in the woods, are aggressive about success in the field but look at the whole experience in the field as a bonus, and aren't out to kill an animal at all cost. I'm 38, 6 foot, 185...( why does this feel like craigs list) :chuckle: I'm in excellent shape for my age, but not iron-man shape for sure, Long walks in the rain are good too  (as long as its Blacktail season).

I am also looking for a backcountry hunting partner, I also have the month of Sep off and plan on deer/bear hunting. Would love to elk hunt but didnt know where to start up here and assumed I would be alone so I figured elk was out. I would rather have longer 2-5 day hunts but am open to shorter if tags are filled of course lol.

Hello.

I'm too am looking for reliable and ethical bow hunting partners. I have a toddler in my house so taking off for numerous long trips is not in my future for a few years. That said, I can hunt hard over a weekend.

I should also admit that I'm new to bow hunting and hunting in general. This fall will be my first season ever. I'm 39 in two weeks, have been working on my archery for about 2 years now and feel ready to head into the woods for the first time with the intent to kill. I've been backpacking most of my life so I feel like I have a good grasp of woodsmanship. I'm serious, have been strength and cardio training for 7 months right now to prepare my body for the demands of back country bow hunting.

My problem is that I grew up in a non-hunting household, so the exchange of information from grandfather to father to me never happened. I have one friend who hunts and I've been picking his brain for the last 2 years as well. I'm willing to put in the time and effort, I just am looking for someone to go with.

I live in Everett so GMU's like 437, 448, 450, 460 are the ones I'm considering for weekends.

I'd be down to meet for a pint somewhere to meet and discuss ideas, let me know if anyone is interested.

H2O hunter,

Thanks for the welcome and now I'm bummed I missed it. What section of the board do I need to watch for any future BBQ or meetups?

Thanks.

You can find out more about the shoot there as well as look at the calendar for shooting times.

Silentservice, I have a 7 day archery elk hunt planned the first and second week of September. I will be hunting in the Satsop and Wynoochee units. Most of my hunts will be behind locked gates on bike or by foot. I also have a 7 day high mountain deer hunt planned at the end of September in the Olympic's. Send me a message if this sounds like what you are looking for.
