Leupold all the way ! no reason not to shoot a 3x9 or 4x12 though , they will hold up fine on your .338 and are nice on the bench while sighting in .
How about a used Leupold M8-4x? Older, but respected. If there were to be an issue it's covered by Leupold's warranty.

I can make easy 600m hits on man size targets with an ACOG on my M4 and that's farther than I plan on shooting at game with any rifles I currently own.

"easy" 600m hits with an issue M4 is a bold claim even if you were using Mk262.
