Help please..
« on: October 15, 2008, 08:17:21 PM »
Hey everyone this is my first post on this great forum. Well i just got back from my deer hunt last night from the Winthrop area. I seen a few doe's but that was all. I was wondering if anyone wanted to point me in a good location, i am not asking for a "honey hole" just a general area. i have been hunting the Winthrop area for about 8 years with no success i am still looking to get my first deer and i am starting to get frustrated with that area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

head to the NE corner in november after whitetails, strong population of bucks, lots of good tips on here about whitetail hunting, you should have your first deer within a year or two.

There is nothing wrong with that area, there are loads of deer in there. I cant imagine anyone hunting that area and not getting 4 bucks in 8 years, there has to be other factors you're missing. How many are in your hunting party? What areas are you hunting specifically?

You can walk 5 miles and not see a buck in some areas up there or you can have a hot spot where you always see bucks.  Where I hunt in that area on any given day is based more on the weather and hunting pressure than anything.   If the weather is right up there, Ray Charles sees bucks.

:bash: i learned the hard way. was moving too fast and got lost up there by gooseberry flats. ended up 15 miles down near the highway and had to hitch hike back to camp.

i guess i didnt slow down much after that but i did get a GPS. :P

Well there is usually about 8 to 10 people in our party. I hunt gmu 218 up on the 8 mile ridge.
