"ceremonial" bull killed, June 23

I wouldn't normally start a topic to start the opening of the can of worms, but today when I took the girlfriend up to look for deer and go for a drive on the tree farm, white river tree farm behind the mill to be exact, I was visibly upset to find a fresh elk gut pile and about a fifty yard drag mark with no foot traffic other than to hook the haywire up right off the main line. I walked to where it was shot and saw that it was a cow and last yrs calf, I assumed it had been the cow that was shot. I made one phone call to the right person who later got back to me and found out it was a cow and her last yrs calf, a spike, which they shot for a ceremonial hunt. I don't know how other people feel, but I just cant figure out why the hunting around here sucks compared to what it was 15 yrs ago, shooting yearling bulls in june cant have anything to do with it. sorry im not sorry if this offends anyone, but I think that it is just sad!! just plane sad!!!

well if they are shooting spikes in june, then it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out, that's less bug bulls!!! this isn't the first time

well it was a cow an calf coulda been a big ol 400 bull  would that have been  worse or better in your mind from a animal management point?  or is it it an equality point in which case no one should hunt "public" land without following the same rules?

Makes me want to take a ceremonial dump on their dinner plate/table.  Amazing how much it pisses me off as much as we hear about it, should be use to it by now.  Imagine how often it goes on and no one knows.  If you hadn't just went for a drive, those guts would have been gone in two days and no one would of known any different.

Lots of tribes have access to white river.. one reason I don't consider it a quality tag.
