"ceremonial" bull killed, June 23

I wouldn't normally start a topic to start the opening of the can of worms, but today when I took the girlfriend up to look for deer and go for a drive on the tree farm, white river tree farm behind the mill to be exact, I was visibly upset to find a fresh elk gut pile and about a fifty yard drag mark with no foot traffic other than to hook the haywire up right off the main line. I walked to where it was shot and saw that it was a cow and last yrs calf, I assumed it had been the cow that was shot. I made one phone call to the right person who later got back to me and found out it was a cow and her last yrs calf, a spike, which they shot for a ceremonial hunt. I don't know how other people feel, but I just cant figure out why the hunting around here sucks compared to what it was 15 yrs ago, shooting yearling bulls in june cant have anything to do with it. sorry im not sorry if this offends anyone, but I think that it is just sad!! just plane sad!!!

Is that the tree farm up on FSR 74?

hey whats up man. ya i asked the mrs and she said you had the same luck as i did with not gettin drawn for anything. baby boy sure is growing  the girlfriend didnt really know what to think... she hasnt grown up hunting, fishing, and cutting firwood on and around that tree farm so when we go up there and see five or six deer on a day when we should see 20 or 25 she doesnt know the difference!! she could tell i was pissed, she didnt say anything for about a half hr

My Dad and his buddies used to hunt the Forks area back when it was getting logged in the 60's, 70's and 80's. They would get 5-6 Elk every year. Elk running around everywhere. In the 90's they just all quit going down there. I remember him coming home pissed off because the day before rifle season opened they saw a flatbed truck with 5 bulls on it. Tribal hunters had shot all the bulls out of that herd, right before the opener. Another year, they had a big 6x spotted about a mile away. So, late afternoon, they are sitting there watching this bull, figuring out how they are going to get to him on opening morning. All of a sudden, the bull does a faceplant, legs up in the air. Same thing, Indians, day before rifle opened, just to rub everybody's nose in it!! I'm not saying that's the only reason for the decline in alot of areas, I know there are many other factors, but it sure doesn't help!!

U hear stories like that from all over. I see bulls in the back of Indians rigs every year in august, September and october, and my good buddy works for hancock, so i hear of bulls in the teens and 20's every yr before the rest of us get to hunt, and oh yeah, we have to get drawn to hunt!!

That's already going on ...There is a lot things they do that we have no clue about  The time is coming when we become free loaders ...Do as you please but keep your mouth shut
