Foster Creek 2nd deer
« on: June 24, 2013, 07:51:27 PM »
I drew foster creek, not the second deer tag i was hoping for but hey when youre given sour grapes make wine right?

im reasonably familiar with the unit have done a fair amount of upland hunting in the main drainage along 17 but have never hunted it for deer.

doing my homework right now researching access and pulling up property ownership to find the public and private stuff and am headed out there this weekend for an initial scouting trip.

guess im just throwing this out there, i know its early but anyone with the same tag want to compare scouting notes or possibly get together over the summer to burn some boot leather (im in wenatchee) or maybe a gracious sole here might want to throw out some hints or tips or know a landowner with a doe problem haha

Thanks
Uplander

I would agree. My dad and I have hunted the unit off and on for the last 7-8 years or so. I've taken a few bucks from the Foster creek ranch properties and my dad filled his 2nd deer doe tag on it 2 years ago. There is a lot of pressure since they give everyone that asks permission to hunt so it's about as crowded as any public land.

Yep that's the place. If coming off 97 it is the second place on the left after the mansfield turnoff.

I know a few folks have had pretty good luck knocking on doors with a doe tag. The right door could literally open up thousands of acres over there. Who knows it may pay off for birds as well  :dunno:. I would think you could fill a doe tag right in that main drainage where the release site used to be if you were there early.
