backyard bear
« on: June 25, 2013, 10:07:28 PM »
A couple weeks ago a 150 pound range black bear started milling around our place.  Soon after, and for the next few days/nights, a big boar was hanging with it (assuming a young sow).  Come to find out that bear mate in May/June and have a delayed gestation period.  I did not know that.  The boar in this picture is "big".  For two weeks we had two known boar and three sow (assuming) creating quite a show.  They have since moved on.  My wife and children are glad.  Fifty feet from the house was close enough!

That is pretty cool...  Too bad you could not have gotten any sounds that they make during their rut.  It might have been useful for calling the boars in.

Dude that is a monster bear, easily in the 400lb range.  Maybe he will stick around until fall and you will get to see him up close! :)
