Amazing trail cam pic.
« on: October 16, 2008, 10:06:36 AM »
Saw this on another site and commented on how cool it looks.
Of course there are the non belivers that jumped on it as being a fake.
After I explained why I believe it to be real the owner sent me the original to help confirm it.
I said he didn't need to convince me but he sent it anyway and I posted more examples to the naysayers.
Has had over 18,000 views and 300 comments.
Pretty amazing!

Single exposer.
Rear sync flash. the shutter opend and exposed the sensor as the deer was in the frame but traveling up from jumping, then the flash went off and exposed the deer, thats why you can see some of the sky on the top edge of the deer. in other words the shutter was open longer then the flash fire time. If you look under the deers right knee, you can see the shadow the body made on the trees behind it because the flash is above the lens on the trail cam.
I have the original and you can see a bunch of blood in the air under the deer from it flying out of the entrance wound.

Thank you, that is what I was trying to describe in the original post about this pic!

Elk,

After reading the original thread on this forum with Backwoods Boy basically saying it is indeed a fake, and thinking that until I read the multitude of opionions (before yours) I was leaning that it was real.  After reading your analysis and expertise, I have no doubt that this is a 100% real picture.  Thanks!  My day is a little better now knowing sweet things like that can happen.

BWB, just re-read my post and it may have come off a little harsh, just want you to know I was not trying to say you were an idiot or anything.  I was basically saying I was swaying back and forth, but if you go to that other forum and skip to the last 4 pages, Elk makes amazing points and shows why he believes the picture is real.  Which I think is pretty undeniable at this point! :)

so what's judgement?  fake or real?  If it is fake, it is a hell of nice job. If it is real, even nicer job done.
