I sold my glock 20 and bought a Kimber eclipse custom II full size. I couldn't be happier with my choice i am also looking at a Kimber compact but i am interested in the stainless ultra raptor II. I wish they would offer a bobtail version.

I just got my Kimber Eclipse II today, have not shot it but love the feeling of the gun and of course it's absolutely sick looking!!!

Shot the crap out of the Sig Nightmare the other day, ran like a champ. Not a single hick up but I still like the Scorpion better for some reason. Sig just makes a solid 1911.

There is also a compact version of the Scorpion.  I love Sig 1911 but just picked up my first Kimber.

There is compact, then there is subcompact.  I think you are talking about a subcompact with a 3" barrel.  The reason I say this is in a 1911, .45acp, subcompacts can be very finicky as you have a whole lot going on in a very short window of time.  The pistol fires, slide comes back very quickly and has to strip a round very quickly with less mass to do it with (then a 5" slide).  Basically some .45 1911 subcompacts or bullpups are good, some are jammomatics.

Personally, as much as I like 1911's, I would stick to the Glocks/Springfields, etc. in a subcompact.  OR, try a subcompact 1911 in 9mm.  As far as a compact pistol (4-4.5" barrel), 1911 .45's are (usually) excellent.

I have shot a few subcompacts, some run, some don't and others run when clean and wet (oiled) and some don't run well even then.
Nailed it.
3" 1911's are a crapshoot.
4" Commanders are awesome.
IF you have to have a sub, there are better choices.

I'll have to agree with earlier posts that if you don't feel comfortable with a Glock in your hand, you should try a 1911.  I'm your over the edge 1911 fan...  I just sold a Colt Officer's ACP (3 1/2" barrel), and while I'm not regreting it just yet since I have other Colt/Kimber, I would suggest a Springer Champion or Colt Commander in a heart beat if you don't want a full size 1911.  And not to knock any of the Kimber sub compacts either.  But put a Springfield XD or XDm in your hand if you want the DA trigger.

I still can't understand why 1911 manufactures have stuck with the flat main spring housing. The best thing you can do is get rid of that and install an arched main spring housing, especially if you're shooting low with it. Recoil will be more comfortable too.

I would get a piece of grip tape on that frontstrap.

Sweet! That little guy looks awesome.  Should be fun to shoot.  We'll have to go shooting sometime. I've got a Sig Nightmare just like Biggerhammer's above.  I need to get out and shoot it some more.  Were you able to find ammo for it, or were you already stocked up?
