wdfw officer fills tag on i-5
« on: October 16, 2008, 12:01:47 PM »
In yesterdays herald there was an article about a injured deer being shot on I-5.

I work at a sheet metal shop here in down town everett with a nice open log yard just to the north boardered by I-5. To my amazement I see a blacktail buck up by the freeway. 2 state patrol cars, 2 wdfw officers and everett PD pull up,shut down traffic. The female wdfw officer pulls a shotgun out of her truck walks up,puts a slug in the buck dropping it (gmu 407-legal deer) :bash:
they drag him over the guardrail onto I-5 and into the back of the truck and take off.

I have yet to fill my tag. Damn why couldn't in be archery season  >:(

Hahaha, I read this article, but did you see hilarious part? A lady they herald interviewed was CRYING that they shot it!!!! BHahahaha, and they nicely explained they couldn't save it, and it was the humane thing to do. I know there are some deer in all those green zone's we have in Everett, like the big swaths of forest that go down to the water....  i see does all the time on the streets.

I always want to do some urban hunting  :P  How i can check if some area's in city is legal to hunt with bow ?
When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

Would have been sweet if she got out of the squad car and pulled a bow out of the back seat!  I'd really give them props for that.  In what way was the deer injured?

" Injured leg " I'm pretty sure they were just looking for a reason to put it down. It was on an 8' island with a 4" fence and 20' rock wall behind it. It must have walked between the guard rail and fence for a good 200 yards. I'll snap a shot of the spot tomorrow and post it to give ya'll an idea.

Urban hunting = Vashon Island. Lot's of deer and a ton of bunny huggers living on the island. I don't know if it still holds, but you used to be able to bow hunt on the island. A few years ago when my brother-in-law lived on the island he always got his deer during the season. He just hunted his own littls chunk of land. He said that almost everyone on the island without much exception would NOT let anyone hunt on their land. Like I said, BIG TIME TREE HUGGERS!!

Saw a cool bumper sticker today:
