Wow! That was fast! That doesn't usually get put up for a couple months after the drawing.

I noticed one interesting change- quality deer applications for Skookumchuck dropped by 38%.

Obviously due to the Weyerhaeuser closure.

That's just depressing, I remember when there were more goat tags than sheep & moose combined, now it hardly looks worth it.

Interesting they had a quota of 125 second deer tags for Spokane south rifle and only issued 79. But archery second deer Spokane south had a quota of 25 and 300+ applicants. Seems like they need to take some unissued rifle permits and put them into archery next time.

The 2nd deer tags shouldn't require you to apply only for the ones that match your first tag. That would solve the problem.

that it would... one pile of second tags per area and season matches your tag choice...makes sense.

Depressing for me when I see both units I applied for in quality deer with 9 points and the average draw points were less then 7.

I saw an increase in applicants for the units I was putting for, in looking at sheep they really had some big changes,

The change in sheep was probably due to there being no Tieton permits this year.

I don't see why they can't give out goat permits on the peninsula again.  They have over 400 on the peninsula and the park says are non-native and wants to get rid of them.  I've seen lots of those goats wandering around the wilderness areas next adjacent to it.

2012 status and trend report

The
harvest guidelines are to limit harvest opportunity to
4% or less of the total population, only allow harvest in
goat populations meeting or exceeding 100 total
animals, and limit harvest of nannies (females) to 30%
or less.

If we only counted herds of 100 or more goats and exclude all three national parks there would still be 71 permits at a 4% harvest. As it is we have less than a 1% tag to population ratio... Idaho has roughly the same number of goats and 53 tags. I don't think we have gotten an adequate reason for the disparity.

If the population was 10k animals in the 1950's and 60's with 0 harvest how long would it take to get the population back up to historic levels?

In the quality deer hunt I was aiming for, someone got one of the four tags with only one point.  Lucky hunter
