Oil run off killing Hood Canal?  I know they get times of oxygen depletion that kills off huge parts of the canal, but where are you reading about oil?

I'm sorry, I mean pollution/runoff in general. But there are lots of documents/articles regarding the damage of runoff on our waters.

Hood Canal is just one observation, one that is particularly sensitive to Oxy-related issues.

...What does a guy do ? Start raising some hell .. I can not imagine what it will be like when my boys hit 40 ....

how about calling the game department and taking up some volunteer opportunities, or starting your own salmon farm to compete with wild caught. or ride a bike instead of driving since oil run off is killing some waterways like Hood Canal.
I guarantee you if it was for our benefit to volunteer my time I would be all over it ...as far as volunteering to help tribal fishing ...FORGET IT !

That's all 99% of fishermen do! they complain!

Join and support CCA they are the only voice we have working politically on our side. Commercial fishermen have I don't know how many groups working for them to ensure they come out on top.

Sure they need to hear But does it do any good if it falls on deaf ears :dunno: :chuckle:  You know the saying "money talks bullscat walks"

But I see what you're saying BH, if even half of us would take the time and write things could change, i know there are still a couple dfw commissioners who listen.

I agree with you 1000%!!!!  Gamies need to do more to protect our resource!!!

:yike: :yike: :yike: THEY WERE SALMON FISHING :yike: :yike: :yike:

Those kids should have EACH gotten a $500 ticket for poaching -- it's poachers like them that are hurting our resource and they should have had their licenses revoked for a year as well.

That Gamie was pretty darn lenient for not taking pops to jail and sending kids to child services!  Good job to him for his excellent demonstration of grace!

Well, its not EXACTLY salmon fishing...but the last 3 stream habitat enhancement projects have resulted in the creeks being placed off limits for all fishing...so far none have re-opened.

Officially its to 'let it recover' but some are going on a decade of recover now...so it feels like a land grab for the Greens.  Same with the closure/bedding or obliterating roads that seems to be SO popular (see Wild Sky - most of the land meets NONE of the stated requirements for "Wilderness" yet its getting shut off...unless you have lots of spare time to hike into the lakes, creeks etc.  Used to be a 2 hour hike to some fav trout lakes...now its an all day project just to GET to them.  If you WORK for a living...makes it tough to get out.

With that sort of track record, I'm understandably leery of volunteering more time so that I can get shut out of MORE land.  I wont EVEN get into the Tribal fishing, being held at arms to take my film and the wastage.
A Smith & Wesson Beats Four Aces.

Whatta ya mean I can't have one of each?

What we have here is...Washington Department of NO Fish and WATCHABLE Wildlife.

WDFW is going farther and farther backwards....we need FISH AND GAME back!

It is sad that this state will do nothing until its to late. Look at the sturgeon. I am tired of this state not wanting to do what is right. Stop the netting or better yet stop all fishing for 4 years and it would rebound like no other. When there is nets strung across the river the fish don't have a chance. No one is there to police the natives on what they take and no one ever will. They don't care about protecting the species they just want their money.
