Mounts & Rings Suggestions
« on: June 13, 2013, 02:02:21 PM »
I just got a new Leupold VX-2  it’s a 3-9 50mm CDS. I’m putting it on my M70 Shadow 300 Win Short. I’m looking for suggestions for a good set of mounts and rings for my gun & this scope.

I'd go withBurris Signature rings. No lapping required. And I'd probably go with the Weaver style, just for the simplicity of installation.

Depends on how much money you want to spend.  Personally, I hate Weaver style rings, especially on guns of that sized caliber.  I'd recommend a one piece base if you plan on using Leupold or Burris rings.  Aluminum Talley one piece rings and bases are nearly unbeatable for the weight and price in my eyes.   :twocents:

I run those NF titanium rings on one of my long guns.  When mounted on a rail, they're the best overall in my opinion.  I think with the rings, base, and inclimeter I paid just under $500.  That was getting a deal as well.

I've got these if you're interested. You'd need a rail. EGW makes a good one.

I've got a couple Tally 1 piece mounts that are very nice also.

If you decide to go the 20 moa rail route, I'd be grabbing those rings from jackelope.  They are awesome rings, especially for that price.

I think you should just use a RAM mount system.

I like the RAM mount sysytem alot, it allows for a quick hookset, and are very reliable...

Oh wait....

Nice try Skillet!

my 300 RUM has a EGW 20 MOA one piece base and burris extreme tactical rings. youd probably be ok with just about any quality ring/base combo since that scope isnt too heavy and the gun doesnt have extreme recoil.

I went the signiture zee rings 1" (high) on my 300 wsm and the Burris XTC two piece mounts.   I have 7mm between the barrel and bell.   I have yet to read anything but positive reviews on these rings and mounts.
