Boots?

So after 7 years I need a new pair of boots.  My current boots are Danner torphy 600 insulated.  I am open for some duscussion on what others wear and have had great success with.  Thanks for the help guys and gals!

Do you still want to run a insulated boot?

Still use insulated boots due to previous frostbite on toes of both feet.  i need the extra warmth now.

How much do you want to spend?  What type of hunting do you do?  What are the shape of your feet?

Remember not to buy boots based on others recommendation.  While they may tell you they are well built, durable, good ankle support, don't leak, etc....  The way a boot fits is the most important.

Wow that did not go well.  So I hunt a lot of rough area, blow downs, rocks ect so I need a taller boot with great ankle support.  My feet are in good shape but get cold quickly due to previous frost bite issues.  Like all of us I hike uphill and downhill alot durnign elk and deer season, I have a different pair of boots for upland birds.

I would recommend a mountain boot then.  They are pricier but the   Kenetrek, Lowa, Hanwag, scarpa, schnees, etc.... Whichever one fits your foot the best.

I believe all of these manufacturers have insulated options.

Phelps couldnt of said it better, bad thing is trying on the mentioned boots is hard to do as they are not available in most areas to try on.

Buy local. Whites and Nicks boots in Spokane both make great boots that, although will cost u more at the start, will cost u less in the long run. The important thing is that the boot will b made 2 ur specific needs.

My son brought me home a pair of Danners. Comfortable right out of the box.
Was at Cabelas Saturday looking at boots. Need to replace them.

Ill tell u right now after owning danners, rockies and others of the same class of boots under $180...there is nothing like putting on and hiking in Kenetreks, Meindl and the other highend boots..the support in steep,rocky and slick terrain is so much better. And not to include having on a 80lb pack with good supported boots is a huge plus! Once u own a pair u wil wonder why u havent had them for years

I have owned Danner Pronghorns and enjoyed wearing them.  They fit well and were comfortable.  I did get some ankle pain though after a lot of side hilling and steep grade.  I tried out Zamberlands this last year and the support was much better than the Danners and the ankle pain went away.

Kenetrek is on camp fire for the next 2 hours, does anyone know much about this piticular style? 234.00, good price? It's the terrane model with gators !
