Dog....you and I have exchanged a few PM's so I know you are young and your heart is in the right place. So, with tongue in cheek, I'm going to lay it out for you. C-Post.....there.....I said it. For this sake of this post and me not getting banned I'll point out right up front. C-Post is a real place. It exists. However, it is a very general term for a turn off to a vast area.

Now....on to elk hunting. I would hunt the C-Post area of the Oly Peninsula. The area you are asking about is simply way to general and vast of an area for folks to not yank your chain a little bit.

I would read up on the forum of past threads and glean all you can. Get this year under your belt...maybe whack a deer...then next year start thinking about a weekend scouting trip or hunting with a bud. Then...get a cool thread going like "hey I'm looking to go scout X area of X place.....any tips on this region". That way you will be more likey to get some tips.

I'll tell you what....I got a couple books laying around that might just help get you started.....PM me your name and adress and I'll send them out to you. No change, no strings attached.

is SEE__post a location that will get you banned by merely mentioning it?

Like I said.....his heart is in the right place. If he can put up with a touch of ribbing and think of this place as a campfire where we all sit around the I expect we will see some pics of him smiling with a nice critter this fall.

No....you don't get banned for just the mention.....just "do no harm" when posting and keep it light is my theory.

The Satsop  and Wynoochee are good units as well. If you are into archery I am looking for a good partner to hunt these units. I have a 7 day hunt planned.

You've gotta expect a lot of jabs when you're asking people to tell you where to go hunt. Most people have spent countless hours in the woods finding their honey holes and with the growing population of slob hunters in the field each year, you'll have a hard time getting anyone to just point out a great hunting spot to you via the internet.

Ribbing aside, best advice I can give you is research the hell out of the animal you want to hunt, and then go hunt it. If you learn where to find them during each part of the year and how to find them, you don't need to ask anyone for places to hunt, you'll know where to go. If you don't want to put the time into the research, and just want a quick deer or elk bagged then you have no business hunting in the first place imho.  As H20hunter stated, your heart is probably in the right place, just be careful of perception.  :twocents:

Ok Hdog......today is the day. Your books are heading out. Read up, learn the critter, learn the areas that might hold the critter, find the critter, kill it and cook it over an open flame with your head held high!
