Kesserling's loosing FFL!
« on: July 02, 2013, 04:26:40 PM »
It seem's the BATF is pulling Kesserling's firearms license by Oct.  You may get some deals coming up.  Additional details are on there Facebook page.  I hate to see another gun shop disappear from the area.  You need a few to keep the other shops competitive.

unreal!  they sold the most amount of guns in the area by far... I won't be surprised if it was because of paperwork errors or some other technicality.

Any rumors as to why?

Rumor is to many MIA guns and paperwork.  Their probably are other reasons that others may be able to verify.  Still unfortunate.  This may be why they cabled all the guns, numbered them etc.  I think they were trying to meet all the requirements, but in the end the BATF is not for gun shops with all the hoops one has to jump through these days.

I hope they can get this figured out. Many people I know have been lifelong customers, myself included.

They may have to change names, management and apply for a new FFL under a new name and wait the waiting period.  All firearms would have to be removed in the time being.  If and only if they are approved again.  Who knows!  Maybe a fight that some don't want to be involved in, but again I don't have all the details.

I have probably spent 2k in that store, and like stated before when they shut down the remaining few will probably jack there prices.  Looks like my purchases will be almost solely on line these upcoming months.

From their Facebook Page:

Kesselring Gun Shop Inc After October it will still be Kesselring's but it won't be a gun shop. Everything is up in the air right now as to what will change and what won't change i.e. name and what not. We really appreciate all the support and are sorry to say we won't be a gun supplier anymore.

Kesselring Gun Shop Inc We fought really hard to try and keep a gun store but these days it's quite the task to do with many hoops to jump through.

Kesselring Gun Shop Inc The reason we will not be selling firearms or ammunition anymore is because on October 1st 2013 we will be surrendering our FFL to the ATF. Hope that helps shed some light on your earlier question.

Kesselring Gun Shop Inc It's a forced surrender. I have no updates as of right now for a new shop

That also means that if you bought a gun from them thier FFL records will now be in the hands of the feds.  :twocents:

Yeah they shut down a gun store. But the US Parks Police can misplace ARs and they are still open for business .

Kesselrings closing their doors???
« Reply #19 on: July 03, 2013, 08:38:01 AM »
I heard through the grapevine that Kesselrings is closing on or before Oct. 1  forced by the ATF.  A buddy said they would be having a big liquidation sale.  Can't say I give a rip.  I've never liked that placed.  Lousy customer service and the rudest sales people in the business.   Much rather go to Dave's or Skagit Sports where they appreciate the business

Your NICS check paperwork stays with the FFL until they close. then the paperwork goes to the ATF (i think).  We could argue about if they keep the info when its called in, however it IS in thier system after an FFL loses its licence/goes out of business.

They must not be in too much of a hurry to get rid of their guns, 10% off in a liquidation sale  for firearms that are already marked up 20% over MSRP or blue book ain't chit. They have been over priced from the beginning, looks like they will stay overpriced to the end.

Here is the latest email I received.

As of October 1, 2013 Kesselring Gun Shop, Inc. will surrender its Federal Firearms License (FFL) and no longer be in business to buy, sell or trade firearms or offer gunsmithing services. As you can imagine, it’s with a heavy heart that we share this news.

The Kesselring Family would like to thank all of its customers for 66 great years.  Moving forward there will be a business reorganization within the family, Keith and Don will be going their separate ways.

Keith Kesselring and Melissa Erlenbach will be opening Kesselring Pro Shop which will operate within the new indoor Skagit Shooting Range facility located in Burlington at 1340 Bouslog Road. The range is under construction and will open in late November, 2013.

Kesselring Pro Shop will offer firearms, ammunition and accessories for individual sale, law enforcement, corrections, first responders, firefighter personnel and those interested in concealed carry, home and self defense. The Skagit Shooting Range will offer a first class 16 lane indoor 25-yard range, complete with classroom facilities for individual or group training, special events, and league shooting.

Don Kesselring will continue retail, wholesale and internet sales operations at Kesselring Gun Shop, Inc., located at 4024 Old Highway 99 North Burlington, WA. Sales will include ammunition, reloading supplies and components, optics, bases and rings, and firearm parts and accessories.

I got a great price on my shotgun there a few years ago. Also a pistol and plenty of ammo. I've always had good service there. I wouldn't say that they normally have great prices, but I have taken advantage of sales and the knowledge of the staff.

20% over Msrp OR blue book? These would be two entirely different numbers...

Sad to hear this, whether you like or dis- like the place.. In this day and age, the Feds do make it difficult to do what we do..selling guns! More and more hoops do jump thru all the time! Hope all those affected will survive this and find work elsewhere..think you will see more and more FFL's falling by the wayside with the jokers we have running this country at the moment!

My feelings are a mixture of Boneaddicts and Stillybays. It is sad to me when any gun shop goes out of business because it limits my choices, but they weren't my favorite shop (overpriced and rude/condescending).

Dang! That stinks! I've had two suppressors on order with them since last October, and haven't heard any word in regard to getting them. I guess I should cancel my order and get my money back, ASAP! What are your thoughts?

The last time I walked in there, I basically had to grab the hand of a guy sitting behind the counter to get his attention.

Maybe they refused to sell weapons to illegal alien, Mexican drug dealers.  :dunno:

Still bumming me out.  I remember when they would shoot out the store windows.  Long time ago it was a heck of a shop.  Bought my most proud 30-06 there over 20 years ago.

Sad, I purchased a couple of guns from them years ago, had good and bad experiences with their sales folks depending on who was helping (?) me.  All in all, it was a good place to shop for a gun.

I find it interesting that ATF can let hundreds of assault rifles and pistols get exported illegally (Fast and Furious) that ended up in the hands of the drug cartels and then they come down on legitimate U.S. gun shops.  What a mess.
