Great pics thanks for sharing  ;)

Those pike remind me of growing up in Michigan and catching those bad boys in the Great Lakes  :)

I just got home last night from 4 days of fishing that very stretch of the Mo.
we did very well on dry flies. It was a tuff bite with the low water but we were able to figure them out. We had our best year for big fish. Average was about 21" with a few over 24".

We have gone every summer since 1999. Already planning next years trip. Probably go after July 4th for 4-5 days.

Good times

I am planning a 10-14 day trip to Montana in the fall and would love to try my hand ad some fly fishing there.  I am a beginner but you gotta start somewhere.

Were you fishing stricly from a boat?  Any particular advice or suggestions on where to go for some wading/bank fishing would be awesome.

I went to Wisconsin in the late '80s with a friend and his family and fished for Pike and Muskies.  The fishing was not very good when we were there but I did catch a decent Pike and we caught lots of panfish just off their private dock.  Good times.

There is tons of wade fishing in SW Montana.  The Missouri is better floated, but can be fished by wade fishing also.

Do you like to fish big rivers or smaller rivers?

I haven't fished the Missouri in the fall but I'm told October is the time for the Big browns. Several good spots between Holter dam and Craig to wade fish. The water is low this year so it's possible to wade to several of the islands. We fished use pontoon boats for transportation and get off to fish.

I would call Montana River Outfitters in Wolf Creek and see about a room and maybe a guided trip. We have stayed in one of their cabins every trip and they are close to the river.
