There were 4 of us hunting this drainage, 3 with tags and myself who was taking my 9 year old son out for his first trip. In all the 3 hunters shot 2 bucks and a very nice bear; everything was a bone and pack job. My son hiked in with me an hour before light, was quiet as a church mouse (most of the time) and made a killer 172 yard shot with a small window through trees on a deer that was spooked and moving, he's a stud and I'm so proud!  a_bess's deer was old and I think blind and deaf, he just walked up to it and put it out of its misery  :chuckle: .This was one of the best and most memorable days of hunting I've ever had.

Simply outstanding! That 28" buck is a huge beast of a deer!

Great bucks - and sharing the hunt with your son... Too cool.

Congratulations!

Hey a_bess, where's your orange dude!? JK :chuckle:  Guy's, the pictures don't do this buck justice!  He's a real stud for sure!

These 4 had an incredible opening day and worked their butt's off.  That was a heck of a lot of meat to pack off the mountain!  The bear that the 3rd hunter shot was huge also.  a_bess, you should post a pic of that bear!

What a great experience and great buck for the first time hunter at 9yrs old!

Way to go guys!
