What Happened to Me?!
« on: July 09, 2013, 07:38:08 PM »
Can anyone tell what the heck happened to this little guy?

Think he made it?

Found him last weekend.

That's a wicked looking wound! Looks like a lot of swelling and infection. I'm surprised he got away from whatever did that to him. Coyotes maybe? My hunch is he will die from infection but maybe he'll get lucky.

I hope he makes it.  I don't see many mule deer in this area.

Sure was moving fast when I spooked it.  I hardly got a picture.

How could he get away from coyotes though?  This is a pretty small fawn and it seems like even if a doe beat coyote(s) away from the fawn that they'd track and trail and not give up until they'd killed him?

Also, coyotes usually go for the hindquarters or neck and they rip and tear their prey.  That wound looks like a fairly near round hole to me?

We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

Me too.  I hate those birds.  Flies could be a good thing?  Maggots only eat dead flesh?
