daughter needs sight help
« on: July 10, 2013, 04:33:04 PM »
So my daughter shoots a diamond razor edge at 45 pounds with a 26.5 inch draw she is shooting two inches to the right at thirty yards and six inches right at forty I can't follow the arrow there's no more room to adjust. Do I upgrade her sights or am I adjusting wrong.right now she has the black hard plastic apex sight the one that came with the bow.

Sounds like you need to adjust the rest, not the sight. Do a google search for "walk back tuning" there are better shooters and tuners who have explained it better than i can. :)

Agree,  sounds. Like a rest issue..time for a more adjustable rest? When sighting down the bow with the string on the grips centerline, which side of the string does the arrow lay?

Check her grip too, to make sure she's not torquing the bow .

You also might check to see if she is canting the bow to the left.

if the groups are good and to the right at all distances, and things seem to be in order except the sight won't adjust far enough...a right handed shooter can move the sight to the right by putting a spacer between the sight and the riser.  mind you, this is probably cheating as the bow should get a proper rest and total tuning.  but it also might work, so wth?

if the bow is shooting straight at 20 but goes right at farther distances, get a plumb line and check the sight for level, which is sorta what Old Dog beat me to saying.

My son shoots the same bow. I'd check the biscuit, they wear out. You will get better grouping if you convert to a drop away rest and it won't wear, so less re-tuning. I put a Diamond Back on his for about $40. You should be able to shoot that bow out to 60 yards without any problems.
