I just ate some back straps with the family, delish! I can't believe all the negative comments I've heard from others about bear meat. I've eaten plenty and every time I think about the people that said bear is stringy, or greasy. It taste great. Even my wife who wont eat deer thinks it's delicious. Oops, I meant to say it's aweful, you shouldn't waste your time hunting them. The meat is tough, greasy and stringy. Yuck.

Yesterday I took the hide to the Taxidermist. I wanted to learn how to skin out the head so I can do it in the future. In the process we noticed a lot of trauma up along the left side of the face. There about 2 inches below the eye way my Accubond bullet. I thought the bullet exited out of the back of the neck, but apparently not. We determined that it went in the left side between the 3rd and 4th rib from the back, up to the spine, blowing bone fragments out the back of the neck then veering left and coming to rest below the eye. I'm glad it didn't destroy the skull. I'll get a pic of the Accubond tonight.

Sorry they are blurry but you get the picture!  :chuckle: Accubonds spread out making a nasty wound channel, yet retain most of their weight.

Yes indeed, I love the Accubonds! I'll take you up on weighing it, I don't keep a scale around anymore, since I changed professions.  :chuckle:

Hit it with an old toothbrush and some peroxide...get all the gore out of it. Digital scale will tell us.
