You want to know one of the reasons I carry while bow hunting........

brace yourself.......

I like having a gun on my hip.....just because.

Oh boy that is the best reason yet. I am holding hands with you. I love the feel of a gun on my person. Most the time I have two.  :IBCOOL:  :yeah: :hello:

So muslims or American immigrants from cultures you dont understand cant go shooting out at the pit without it being "islamic extremist training"? For all you know they were thanking god for shooting straight. Lightning storms kill more people than "islamist extremists" calm down, take it out on a wolf.

I've been carrying one ever since I started bringing my son out with me archery hunting.  I'm teaching him to understand the woods and not be afraid, landmark identification, etc but he's no match for a large predator.  We had a sorta close encounter with a bear at about 20 yards last year that was pissed off about something and at that range I'm lucky to get 1 shot off with a bow and a whole lot more with my pistol.

That's my main reason for carrying other than the fact that we now have to deal with wolf's that hunt in packs.

So the bottom line to answer Smossy's question.....

If you CAN'T carry, do you guys just not go then?? No more 27 different scenarios why you need one...if you flat out CAN'T CARRY...what do you do?? By some of the comments here, I'm guessing 1 or 2 of you lock yourselves in the basement.

lol  Im not scared to hunt without a firearm at all, I was just curious to what people would do if they couldnt resort to just picking up a firearm. Thats not to say I wont have bear mace on my hip at the least.

I rarely carry a sidearm when I hunt. I usually never do when I archery hunt.

As for this statement, his post was a good question the most obvious answer would be go with out it any way.we went around it to other scenarios maybe just maybe for the antis that look at this site and maybe say hey there a bunch of hunters on here that dont really think you need to carry at all while hunting, wow is that hard to figure out?do you carry concealed? why? :bash: :bash:

Of course I'd still hunt if I couldn't carry. Really Jack?

I don't carry concealed.  I do carry when I'm hunting with my bow.
I'm pretty sure it was you earlier in the thread who suggested, when his girlfriend couldn't go(armed) with him, he should find someone else to go with who could back him up.

Yeah really...based on some of the posts made in this thread, I wasn't sure. Lions, tigers, bears, meth heads,  al qaeda cells?, oh my!!
I also know some people carried when it was illegal to while bowhunting or muzzleloader hunting  as well.  Dunno...Really, I guess, I just had the same curiosity as Smossy did on this topic. Pretty sure I'm not alone in this thinking/wondering.

Dang,

After reading the posts on this thread it occurred to me I should have been much more fearful for the past 40 years out in the woods. Nearly always walking alone in the dark to and from stands, camping alone.....and always with no sidearm.

And to think, I used to believe I was more at risk in my drive to and from the field.............

Flame on. I've got my fire suit on.

Yeah, well my flame's out. The original post was a fair question. People gave fair answers. That's not good enough for some, I guess. Have fun.
