I don't recommend Old Heritage Taxidermy!!!
« on: August 01, 2013, 06:43:24 AM »
So back in February I took a deer cape to Old Heritage Taxidermy out of Selah.  At the time the guy told me he could have it done in three weeks.  I mentioned to him it was the first one I really caped out and put a couple cuts in it and I would fix that later.  I waited about two months and finally called for an update and he told me he got busy and hadn't gotten to it yet.  I wasn't that upset because I didn't have time then to mount it anyways.  I called back in May and after multiple messages and missed calls finally got ahold of him and again he hadn't gotten to it.  Called in June and no answer no callback.  Called again about three weeks ago and left a message.  He finally called back two weeks later and I was in the mountains so didn't get the call.  His voice mail basically said he took the cape out of the freezer A WEEK AGO, it was really bad with cuts and he didn't recommend tanning it.  I called him back the next day and got his voice mail and told him to tan the hide and call me back.  He still hasn't called back and still won't answer his phone.

Not only did he say it would take three weeks and he didn't even look at it for five months but he waited until a week after it was out of the freezer to tell me about it which means by the time he called me I'm sure it was already spoiled.  Now that he is not calling me back I'm pretty sure he just threw it away.  This guy is starting to tick me off and I thought everyone should know he's shady and maybe it's not a good idea to go there.

Your first warning sign is if they tell you they can have it for you in 3 weeks.

(I know nothing of this business, that's just my opinion)

Fusons in 9 Mile Falls! Daren is awesome and he has done nothing but good for me and my friends. Also, he is a no B.S. and does his OWN tanning so you are never "waiting on the tannery". His work is great and he has earned a life long customer. It is worth the drive trust me. If i was to use a site sponsor my list would be as follows

I will admit that he does great work, that's why I went to him. It's his failure to communicate and failure of meeting quoted deadlines that I'm irratated with.

Ive taken all my animals to Tom at old heritage. He does do great work. The turn times can be a little long, but I think its worth the wait to get an animal back that will look great for my lifetime and hopefully my sons too. I do understand what you're saying about not following through with his stated timeframe. That can be frustrating
