Looks like me, my brother, and his girlfriend drew 404 on a party application.

You got an awesome tag, that's the unit I put in for. Seen some big bucks in there.

Hey 270, I won't tell you how many years/points we had 'cuz I think you have been trying to draw the tag for a while now based on posts on here.  I am fortunate to have 3 months paid vacation this fall from August 17 through November 17.  I was already planning a 9-10 vacation (non-hunting) sometime in mid to late September and will now make it a point to spend a couple days in the unit.  Then I will head back over a few days before the opener to try to locate or re-locate a buck or two.  My brother and his girlfriend are probably looking at a week max to drive over and meet up with me and get it done.  Hopefully we can fill all three tags in during the first week of the season because my mom is having knee replacement surgery on Oct. 1st and will probably need my help the first week.

Needless to say I will be researching specific areas now.  I have all of the BMA maps from last year, a Montana Gezateer/topo map book, and will buy the GPS maps now.

What is the deer hunting like in the area?  I am afraid I will see some nice deer on my scouting trip(s) and decide I need to buy a deer tag and stay until the season opens.  If you have any pointers feel free to send me a PM  :chuckle:

It will be our first antelope hunt too and the first real big game hunt of any kind for my brother's girlfriend so it should be a lot of fun.  Good luck!

Yesterday I drove from Washington to 40 miles east of Lewistown. And today I drove from grassrange Montana down through Billings to the border of Yellowstone. Plus some back road driving in Missouri breaks. I saw a total of 3 antelope. About 6 years ago I would have seen 1000+ antelope. Pretty sad. Hope they make a comeback soon.

Last November while driving the highway between Greatfalls and Havre, we saw upwards of a thousands antelope out on those farms.  I know that the one herd had at least 200 in it and the funny thing was they were all shoulder to shoulder with a coyote walking towards them.  I don't think the coyote had a chance but it took my dad telling NO a couple times when I told him I was gonna get out and put one through the boilermaker just to make sure the coyote didn't get lucky. :chuckle:

We were there last week also.  Antelope numbers are really down in the SW and central part of the state.  Such is life, they'll bounce back.

Craig- I live in Billings and work in Lewistown. If you took that drive without seeing at least 50 antelope then it was foggy, you need new contact lenses or had severely poor luck. They are out there and seem to be more abundant (from a car) than the deer these days

We drew our antelope A tags, but no B tags. I guess we'll have to head down to WY on a meat hunt.
