Oregon Land Owner Permit Questions
« on: July 28, 2013, 10:05:34 PM »
I was offered an Oregon land owner permit down in the Melrose unit for deer this fall.

Since I am a Washington resident, would this require that I purchase an out of state hunting licence or is the permit all that I would need?

Also, what are the restrictions on such a tag? Doe? Spike? 2 pt or better?

Do I need to select a specific season or can I hunt them all?

The property is issued 2 tags.

Yes, you need a hunting license beyond the permit the LO will pass on to you.
What you can harvest depends the on the LOP tag they assign to you.
Same for the specific season, depends on what is available and what the LO assigns to you.

Looks like you may have a couple different options with #23.
General season, buck only - rifle
Hunt #123 M1 which looks to be a rut time hunt, buck only - front stuffer
Hunt #123 M2, if the LO's land falls within the area, then it's a whitetail only 2 pt or better hunt in late November - front stuffer.

And a couple bow hunts.....

Thanks for the quick response

Follow up question:

So I would need to purchase an out of state hunting license for $140.50 and the permit given to me by the land owner comes with the tag or would I also need to purchase the $375.50 out of state tag?

Stand by, looking it up but the $375 version sounds about right.

Page 9 of the regs.
NR fees:

Tags - Controlled or General Deer $375.00

$515.50 is your license and tag cost.

Your welcome!

And OUCH, the LO's land had better kick out a really nice buck for that price.   :chuckle:
