umtanum muzzy cow elk
« on: August 02, 2013, 09:32:19 AM »
My buddy drew a muzzy cow tag and we are going scouting tomorrow and he is going to hang a few cameras. I have a little experience in the area but I mainly have hunted over on the manastash side and his tag is for only umtanum. I have looked at a few maps and unit boundaries and am trying to decide where to start. I normally just go in via umtanum road out of eburg but that seems to limit me. Any thoughts or advice on other ways to get in and find some places to help my buddy out? He asked for my help a while back and I could have sworn he said he could hunt both umtanum and manastash so I was going to help him on the manastash front but now I don't know how much help I will be.  :yike:

My son drew antler less in Umtanum.  We hunt the Manastash/Umtanum area.  I'm more familiar, like you, with Manastash.  We are going to spend a lot more time in there this year as he also got the multi-season tag.  I do wish that I knew more of the West/South side of that unit.  I do have some good topo maps and the GMU map too.  Not sure I'm much help, is what I'm saying, but I'll help if I can.  I do look to colleagues for guidance when I'm in need, but I hate to ask too.
