Elk Talk for the opener Question
« on: July 25, 2013, 09:53:14 AM »
I have hunted elk for a long time but I will be helping a buddy with his Peaches Archery tag. I will be bugling to locate in the morning before light. Then cow call throught the day. Being a early hunt is that the correct calling method. Are the bull going to be herding up with the cows yet? We will be installing cameras this Friday. Cant wait. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks

I had 4-5 bulls with cows screaming their heads off two weeks ago for several hours.  Strangest damn thing I have ever seen. Kids loved it.  I had them singing up a storm.  CRAZY!

I think it depends on the conditions and other factors. If you can get some cooler evenings and mornings and maybe even some moisture then that could work very well. If it is hot, dry and clear then they might be pretty quiet and held up during the day and doing most of their work at night. Just be ready to adapt to the conditions and enjoy the experience. Nothing more magical then being in the woods during the elk rut!
