How to string a PSE Bowmadness?
« on: July 23, 2013, 02:56:58 PM »
So here's the deal:  I got new string and I carefully took one end off at a time and easily put the new ones back on.  Then I clipped on my release onto the string like I normally do and forgot about it.  I then pulled back my string to check it out (no release) and my release sank and was caught in the cam so I had to take my strings/limbs off in order to get my release off.  Now I can't figure out how to route my strings through the cams.  Is there any guide that I can find online, or should I just wait until this weekend to go to a pro shop?  I really don't want to wait.  ;). Any help would be appreciated!

I can't find many user friendly pics or vids online, unfortunately.

You did it yourself without a bow press :yike:  That's freakin' scary!

Just remember a single cam bow is nothing more than two cams tied together that share a common power cable.  So both cams let out together when drawn and both take up together when shot or let down.  So both cams wind around the cams in the same direction.  The only string that will wind in the opposite direction will be the power cable that attaches to the upper limb.

I do not have a PSE here, but if you wanted to email me I can send a picture of the Bear single cam.  Same designer same principle.  Bear Archery's website has good pictures of their cams under the technology tab.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

And remember this mistake.  It happens all the time and leads to a lot of damaged strings and cams.  Try to start making it a habit to attach your release to the riser  between the rest and the cable guard and not to the string.  Pretty hard to have an accident that way.

I do have a bowmaster bowpress.  The release is what killed me .  I had to pull the limb off to get the release off.  It was good times none the less.

Vaportrail archery, the maker of my strings, has an awesome and easy to follow video on how to string your bow.  They have close-ups so you can follow the route of the strings.  Now I just need to figure out whether to cross my main string with the bus cable on the left and below the cable slide or on the right and below the cable slide.  Does that make a difference?
