Looking for ideas on a DIY bike cart
« on: July 23, 2013, 07:15:39 AM »
Guys and Gals I am really wanting to make a bike cart.  Looking online can be a bit overwhelming and most of the DIY carts seem to be geared towards people going up and down the paved street with a gallon of milk.  I am looking to make something I can haul a bear out in.  Please post pics up of your DIY projects

Saw a guy last year with a bar mounted from seat post to the front of a baby jogger stroller. He had front wheel removed so only rear 2 wheels of stroller were rolling and made some weird mesh net in place of child seat. When I saw this I immediately thought "duck decoy cart"

I have one of these for fishing..

Its a long shot, but they have a bike attachment u can purchase for it. The cart is super lightweight.
I imagine with some slight modifications like larger tires, maybe bicycle tires, and It would make for a good cart for hauling meat. :dunno:

I found one of those rigs ya haul kids around in behind a bike. Got it at a garage sale pretty cheap. Haven't been lucky enough yet to try it out on a deer or quarter of an elk. Not sure how much weight it would hold up to.

This site sells a lot of bike trailers.  You have to go through the site to see all the cargo hauling trailers but there are a bunch of different designs.

I cant find the OP on a more recent cart question, and one our members posted a bunch of craigs lists adds for bike carts.  Went and picked one up in Renton last night for 40 bucks :IBCOOL:

If i were tobuild one i would make sure and use the same size/kind of tire as my front tire and wheel, that way you could carry a spare tube and such so that  there are less weak links in the system.  :twocents:
