Beggining goose hunter

Hello everyone

I have been hunting elk and deer with a bow for a while and have been wanting to go after some ducks and geese. I had a question or two about it for you guys.

Using the Go Hunt Washington tool for waterfowl (http://apps.wdfw.wa.gov/gohunt/app.html?theme=waterfowl) I found some access sights up in Skagit county. These access sights looked to be near or on peoples property though. Is hunting allowed at these sights or do you have to get permission from the land owner before you head over there? Also, are there any rules of thumb for spotting a good place to throw down your blind for goose hunting? Not asking for anyone's prime spot here, I just want to know if there are any things that will scare them off every time (i.e. never hunt within a half mile of the road, etc.)

When calling geese in, how often do they actually land as opposed to circling around and flying off or just flat out ignoring you. I ask this because I would likely be hunting them with a bow and wouldn't want to risk poor shot placement on a flying goose.
 
On a more general note, the hunting of water fowl requires a small game licence, migratory bird permit and a federal stamp. Can you buy the stamp at any location that sells the licences and how much is it?

United States Post Office sells the duck stamp. Placeon the back of your license and sign it. Lots of good areas over east too. Dont overlook the Moses Lake area.m

First thing is delete that gohunt site.  There is nothing in there that shows hunters can hunt here but not there.  Access sites means nothing that you can hunt or not.  About the only thing that gohunt shows are pheasant release sites, feel free to hunt, register to hunt, and hunt with written permission.  Sad part gohunt doesn't even show the federal lands legal to hunt or not.

Thanks for the tips and advice. For the stamp, do you need a separate one for each bird you harvest or is one good for all?

sTamp is good for all.  It supposedly is money that goes into the conservation fund.  They cost 15.00 if I remember correctly from last year.

from my own experience, it seems that if you want to hunt geese successfully, you need to start saving money and buy a lease or have private access of some kind.  once the season opens they seem to disappear from public land.  no, i'm not bitter

Hunting geese is tough you have to do a lot of scouting. I lived in montana and did the old fashion way of  door knocking and trading meat and salmon to hunt the property. I have found that it is a lot harder in Washington cause most of the farmers have already leased their land. PM me and I can give you some better insight on where to go.

Also the GoHunt feel free to hunt locations are not accurate, hence the disclaimer. I've been to a few "Feel Free To Hunt" only to find it's private property. Has happened in several occasions. Talked with GW apparently farmers at one point allowed it, got mad at unethical, disrespectful hunters and ripped out all the FFTH signs. Go knock on doors
