broad head arrows
« on: July 23, 2013, 04:26:50 PM »
So really started shooting my heads a lot and noticed my heads on one set of arrows fall really fast and wont group. My other heavier spined arrows fly the same. Im thinking my bow is pushing 340 to hard with the broad head on. I can see my arrows kick with the head on too.  My bow was tuned really well be for I had to replace a piece which from what im seeing it may have thrown my bow off. I have screwing with my set up so close to season, it was shooting lights out to 70yds now I think between my cracked rib and my tune ill have to go over everything.  :bash:

If both 340 spine and heavier spined arrows (maybe 300's?) are doing the same thing, sounds like a tuning issue.  BH's will pick up any flaws in your setup (or form) and magnify them more than you can notice shooting field points.  Maybe a stupid question, but are you sure your BH's are the same weight as the field points you were shooting?  If so, I'd guess your rest or string loop needs adjustment.  You didn't say anything abuot whether or not they were porposing or fishtailing during flight.

If tuned correctly, field points and BH's of the same weight, should have the same point of impact (i.e., BH's should shoot the same as field points).  If not, you definitely need to do some tuning.  Of course this assumes everything else is already OK too (i.e., arrow spine, adequate FOC, etc., etc.).

One set is 340 spine the other 300.  Im thinking its me to a point but I need to get my tune checked. I think sinve the last time I shot mu ribs took a nasty hit that im jumping. I flat cant get a group even at 30yds right now :bash: looks like I may need to retrain my self and try to get the bad habbit I think I have to go away.  This suck caise I was shooting great before all this :bdid:

So what do the charts think you should be using?  340 or 300's
I would never mix the two.  Then tune to the proper spined arrow.
Have you paper tuned?
Old enough to know better.
Young enough to go for it.

:yeah: My question is why are you shooting two different spine'd arrows?
Be more concerned with your character than your reputation. Your character is who you actually are while your reputation is merely who others think you are.

The chart im right on the edge between the two. The 340 where for my 3d shoots and did very well without any tuning problems, the 300 where on order when I got the bow and I had shoots coming so thats why I have 340 too.  Im shooting 29.5" draw and 72 lbs and its a insanity, im recovering from cracked ribs too which was caused by my bow failing which sent my release in to my ribs  :bdid:

I had one arrow do the same thing. Have you tried to tune the arrow, or see if there is a little wooble in it when you rotate it around? It might be a bad insert. I just pulled mine from the group and have others to use.

Hope this helps
