Hoyt Vectrix XT500 new to me
« on: July 26, 2013, 05:07:35 PM »
I just picked up a left handed 2007 Hoyt Vectrix XT500 50-60lb and 29" DL. It came complete with a Copper John Dead Nut 2 4 pin sight, a QAD Ultra Rest HD Full Series, not sure of the Quiver brand.  It also included a hard case, 18 Easton Full Metal Jacket arrows, 8 of which have broadheads (not sure of brand), a bag target and broadhead block target, a fletching tool, a couple packs of fletchings and other misc. "stuff" that I haven't identified yet...lol All for $200.00!

So far, I definitely need to move the peep sight! Until I get that done, I really can't go any further. The peep isn't even close to my eye, when at full draw.  I've shot it a few times, just to get the feel for it.  So far, I'm pretty impressed.

I'm pretty new to archery.  My kids bought me a Matthews SQ2 for Father's Day and I've been shooting the heck out of it since. I found this deal on the Hoyt on Craigslist and just couldn't pass it up.

Did I get a good deal??

Id say you did, the rest and arrows alone are worth more than 200 bucks, considering they are in good shape.

I had a Hoyt Vectrix, I loved that bow and killed a fw critter with it.  When I bought my Mathews Z7 I sold the Hoyt for $400, so my guess is you got a good deal.  I did sold mine in 2-3 years ago.

I merely had to look at the quiver to discover the brand...lol.  it's a 2 piece FUSE Posi-Lite.

The arrows all seem to be in really good shape though some need new fletchings.  2 of the arrows have blood stains on the fletchings so I guess that's a good sign!

So, moving the peep site...is that something I need to take to a shop to do or is it something I can do myself?  I'm clueless and do not own a bow press, let alone know how to even use one...

Is your draw lenght 29"? Dpes the string come through the corner of your mouth?  Where do you hold your release hand?  Youll want that all set and figured out before you move your peep

Take it to a shop and have them set the bow to your build.

No, my DL is actually 28 1/2" so it's slightly long.  I definitely have had to use a different anchor point than I do with my Matthews SQ2.  The bow came with an adjustable release, which I've shortened.  This has made it "closer" to my DL but still slightly long.

Interestingly, I've read two different theories about this bow. The bow has "Vector Cam 1/2" One is that the DL is Cam dependent and Two is that the Cams allow you to adjust DL by 1/2" long or short.

That's my next step.  My Matthews SQ2 is currently at Spokane Valley Archery being tuned.  I hope to pick it up today.  I'll probably take the Hoyt with me and see what needs to be done to get it set up for me.

That's the last Hoyt bow that I really liked.  So much better than the Trykon I couldn't believe they kept them both in the catalog that first year.  That's such a screaming deal I would have been worried it was hot! ;)

Congratulations on your sweet deal and awesome bow!

HAHA fortunately, it was pretty obvious that this guy has owned it for some time, including the original paperwork from when he purchased it new.

Almost like you bought 18 FMJ's and got the bow and all that other stuff for free. Sweet!

I think if you need to you could probably go on AT and put the word out you are looking for a 28.5" Vector cam.  It's surprising what you can get on there.  Although I am 28.5" in draw and I actually shoot a few bows better at 29.  Perhaps you will be the same  :dunno:
