Registered the boat. On the instructions, it says to put a proper - between the sections of the Hull Identification Number.WN-1234-22Well, my HIN has way more digits than thatWNZ5416FF252
Use the registration number, not the hull number. The hull number should be stamped or fabricated into or on the hull somewhere.
The HID is basically like the VIN on a car. The registration number is like the license plate number on a car.

I did the research quite some time ago so may be s little off.My boat is Washington licensed but I don't have to display the numbers since its its a Coast Guard documented vessel, I display the document number.

I don't have titles or anything for any of our 3 boats. They were either just purchased from craigslist or given to us. The only thing I plan on putting on anything is an electric trolling moter at the most. Right off the website it says...**What to Register**Any boat or other water vessel that is 16 feet or longer, has a motor larger than 10 horsepower, or is used on federal waters.**What Not to Register**Non-motorized canoes.Non-motorized kayaks.Non-motorized rowboats.
