I'd love to get one in 257 wby mag because the price is fairly reasonable and they are well made, but they don;t make them left handed :'(.

all my vanguards shoot very good , i think they're the best rifle for the money right now. my 270wsm kicks less than my 270 win.

I have a Vanguard and love it.  They are great rifles.  I am not sure about your caliber choice though.  .270wsm will certainly do the job, but I think you might be better off with .300win , 7mmrem ,  or 30.06.  I imagine that you will end up paying a bunch more for your ammo for not much ballistic advantage...Just my  :twocents:

How would you be better off with a 7mm Remington than a 270 WSM? Diameter difference is .007" which is hardly worth noting. Yes, you get heavier bullets, but what can't a good 150 grain .277 bullet do? Power wise, they're on a level playing field. And what is he hunting that he needs a 300 Winchester Magnum? The 30-06 is a great overall cartridge, hard to ever go wrong with it.

Price of ammo, they're all pretty much too expensive no matter what caliber you get. Sucks, but at least thats what I've been seeing. And all else being equal, there will be little difference in price with all the magnums.

I am not saying that the .270wms is an inadequate cartridge.  As I said before, it will do the job.  But I do think the ammo is more expensive and less available, and I don't see an advantage to it above the old standards.  You are right thought, all ammo is getting expensive...ugh. >:(
