Rangefinder

I know there are lots of threads on rangefinders but I wanted your opinions, I need a new rangefinder before this September, I have an archery bull tag for cowiche and I want something that will not let me down. And I also think I would probably want one with angle compensation, although I am not sure how critical that feature is. Also, I need this rangefinder to be able to range animals out to 5-600 yards because I rifle hunt from time to time and I plan on drawing a speedgoat tag sometime in the next ten years in Montana. I like the leupold 1000 and the bushnell 1300. And these are about my price limit.

I have the Nikon Riflehunter 550. I have been very pleased with it. It will do everything you want and not break the bank. I think it was about $280-290.

Leica 1600..stay away from Leupold. The Vortex is also a good one that shoul fit your need, without breaking the bank

My buddy has a Nikon and I think its this one. I have Leica 900, which is rated to further (irrelevent for a bowhunter), and the glass is brighter with an easier-to-read red LCD. However, the Nikon did return a range for some objects which my Leica stumbled on a bit.

I don't like how the vortex doesn't have a crosshair or any type of aiming system, that is until you have already ranged something. I also thought the red digits were hard to see against light colored backgrounds. I liked the bushnell, just worry about its durability. I just can't afford a Leica right now, wish I could.

I have a leupold 600 and 750. I love the 600 but am not too impressed by the 750...

So does mine. I think I've ranged about 980 on my CRF900 a few times.

. Hmmm was thinking of getting a 1000 yard Leupold but might have to use some Candelas points to pay the difference for a Leica 1600.

My vortex has a crosshair before I range. I can get 800yds on any surface I tried it on. Super bright and the brightness of the lcd is adjustable. Its also waterproof and is one of the only rangefinders with a lifetime warranty on the optics and electronics. Hard to beat this thing.
