is there forest service land or is it farmers land. I would assume all spot and stalk right.

You drew the tag, now do the homework, i realize not everyone can scout as much as they want. It kinda sticks in my craw when people use the deer hunting forum as a "any body have a place in mind for me to hunt"  what works for one, might not work for the other.

Great tag by the way!

Its not a draw tag!! It's open season to any archer with an un notched tag.
Last i checked it was   :dunno:  Actually it has only been open to general 2 times in the last 15 years  :bash:

Better make sure you read the regs before you go out to hunt an "open unit" ;)

Skyvalhunter, you better check the regs. The late bow hunts in the entiat unit are permit only, not just any tag holder can hunt this.

ahh, if your talking about the Entiat late hunts, I would start up by Oklahoma gulch and work my way down. Lots of roads up there to check out. Pray for snow. Lots of nice deer but not a easy hunt.
What we need is more cow bell

go ahead hunt up there with out a permit, please just leave us with your license plate number some of us need some more bonus points :)  Its permit only, bring chains.  Its not what it used to be.  You will have lots of company, but it is a blast to be able to hunt on the winter range.  Have fun, take lots of pictures.

I drew that tag last year, that was the funnest hunt i've  ever been on. You will see a lot of deer and quite a few really nice bucks. I never saw a huge jaw dropping buck, but i did put a stalk on several that were really nice. Its straight up and straight down country without a lot of cover, dont count on a level ground shot opportunity you will most likely be shooting at steep angles. I learned this the hard way i would range the deer and send an arrow over its back, because i didnt realize that  50 yard range i took i should have been using my 40 or splitting my 30 and 40. You will see a lot of deer have fun and trust me find some steep hills and practice and get snow camo.

Griz if guys can't use this site to better inform their buddies of a place to hunt or to better educate people of hunting possibilities then what is the site for. If you don't want to give out your honey hole you don't have to. There are some tags that have to be drawn for and is not a genreal tag. Myself I don't have a problem with sharing info for people that need it to better their odds of bagging a nice animal in a draw area in which you can only hunt it on a very limited time frame. I am not a kiss ass hunter who doesn't do their homework. I work hard for my animals I shoot and was asking the question because of the limited hunting possibilities for that unit.

I agree with you there...  Send me a PM I should be  in town for a couple days during your hunt and would be willing to come up and spend a day or two with you!

Don't worry about snow, the bucks will be there...  Bring chains and utilize the road system...  If you can find an area up there to hike over a mile or more without hitting another road you're doing something amazing!  The roads are everywhere and lets hope you have good glass.

Deer are in every canyon up there you'll have no problem finding bucks!

My question to you then is if you know the unit a little and did your homework, then what are you talking about "limited hunting possibilities in that unit"?  I guess im a little spoiled haveing these great units in my back yard to go scout pretty much whenever i want, but if i got a montana tag, or a wyoming or colorado tags you could bet your ass i would be there scouting at least a couple times .  if your gonna put the money into the hunt you might as well at least know the area your going, thats what im basing my comment on, my own personal outlook. Sorry if my comment gave you a bad taste in your mouth and I really do hope you bag a trophy.

That is the reason in my first response to your post said "i realize not everyone can scout as much as they want...what works for one might not work for another"
